Advice and support, in the comfort of your own home
At a home visit, our experienced and friendly Sight Loss Advisor Nicola Ford will be able to discuss your needs and conduct an in-home assessment. This enables her to assess for and provide certain safety equipment free of charge to help you with daily living tasks such as making hot drinks, cooking, and getting out and about with confidence. She can also demonstrate and advise on the use of other equipment which is available to purchase through our office.
Talking books and newspapers are a lifeline for many people, particularly if their eyesight deteriorates and watching television or reading physical books and newspapers becomes difficult and frustrating. We can provide a listening device on loan free of charge and manage the referral process for you.
We also partner with British Wireless for the Blind Fund, through which we are able to provide stereo equipment on loan which enables people on certain qualifying benefits to enjoy a variety of recorded media in their homes for free.
We are very grateful for the support of our partners Wakefield Metropolitan District Council, who kindly provide grant funding to support the delivery of our home visiting service and also provide certain equipment free of charge.
